Selling to the Department of War: set up your DSIP account

DSIP is the Department of War's one front door for SBIR/STTR — topic search, Q&A, and every proposal submission. Here's how a new firm gets in.

The DoW SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal (DSIP) is the only place DoW SBIR/STTR proposals are accepted — proposals submitted any other way are disregarded. Army, Air Force/Space Force (AFWERX/SpaceWERX), Navy, DARPA, MDA, SOCOM and the other components all publish their topics through it.

Before you start

  1. 1Finish the basics — active SAM.gov registration with UEI + CAGE, and your SBC Control ID from SBIR.gov (see the setup checklist below)
  2. 2Create a Login.gov account — DSIP authenticates exclusively through Login.gov — use the email you want tied to your firm login.gov

Create your DSIP account

  1. 1Go to the DSIP portal and select Submit → Register dodsbirsttr.mil
  2. 2Link your Login.gov identity — first sign-in walks you through it
  3. 3Register your firm — enter UEI, CAGE, SBC Control ID, and firm demographics; the first registrant becomes the Firm Admin who can add teammates
  4. 4Explore Topic Search and the Q&A window — you can ask the topic authors questions before the close of Q&A — use it
  5. 5Study the volume structure before you write — DoW proposals are multi-volume (Coversheet, Technical, Cost, Company Commercialization Report, and topic-specific supporting docs) with hard formatting rules

Support: DoDSBIRSupport@reisystems.com. Start your submission days early — DSIP locks at the deadline, and certifications (like the fraud/felony certs and foreign-disclosure questions) take longer than you think.
